Privacy Policy

Account information. Your name, email address, and profile picture, provided when you sign in via Facebook/Meta.

How we use it: to create and manage your account, respond to your requests, and keep Funkd secure.

Linked Instagram account. Your Instagram username and user ID, provided voluntarily to enable saving content via Instagram.

How we use it: to connect your Instagram account to Funkd and enable the save feature.

Saved references. The public URL of each video you save (the link to the original post on Instagram, YouTube or TikTok), along with any titles, tags or collections you assign. We store the reference to the video — never a copy of the video file itself.

How we use it: to build and display your personal content library.

Preview metadata.Creator handles, titles, and thumbnail image URLs associated with saved references, retrieved from each platform's public metadata (e.g. open-graph tags, oEmbed responses).

How we use it: solely to render a preview card for each saved link in your library.

Usage data. Standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages visited — used for security and performance. Not used for tracking or advertising.

We do not sell your information to anyone.

Funkd does not host, store, copy, transcode or re-encode any video content. We only store a reference (the public URL of the original post on Instagram, YouTube or TikTok) together with lightweight metadata returned by each platform's public APIs (title, thumbnail URL, creator handle), used solely to render a preview card.

When you play a saved item inside Funkd, the video is embedded directly from the originating platform using its official, publisher-recommended embed mechanism — Meta's oEmbed and embedded posts for Instagram, the official YouTube embed iframe, and TikTok's official embed. Playback, view counts and any ads remain entirely on the originating platform, in compliance with each platform's Terms of Service and brand guidelines.

If a creator deletes or unpublishes the original post, the saved item in your Funkd library will stop loading — because it was never a copy, just a reference.

Directly from you. When you sign in, connect your Instagram account, or save content.

From Meta/Instagram. When you connect your account via Facebook OAuth, we receive your name, email, and profile picture.

From third-party platforms. When you save a video, we may retrieve publicly available metadata from the originating platform.

Funkd is also available as a Chrome Extension that lets you save Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikTok videos to your library. The extension processes the data described below and never transmits anything beyond what is necessary to perform the action you triggered.

Locally stored data. The extension stores your Funkdauthentication token, your validated session (handle and email) and your UI preferences in the browser's chrome.storage.local. This data lives only on your device, is never synced across browsers, and is removed when you sign out or uninstall the extension.

Saved videos. When you click "Save to Funkd" on a supported page, the extension sends the video URL together with publicly available preview metadata (title, thumbnail URL, creator handle) to our API to add a reference to your library. The extension never downloads, copies or re-uploads any video content — the video remains on the originating platform and is later played back via that platform's official embed. No data is collected from a page until you explicitly save a video on it.

Instagram cookies (read-only, never stored).When you explicitly trigger the "Import Instagram Saved" feature, the extension reads your own instagram.com session cookies and attaches them to requests sent from your browser to Instagram's API on your behalf, only to retrieve the list of Reels you previously saved on Instagram. These cookies are never stored, never sent to Funkd's servers, and never shared with any third party.

Host permissions.The extension requests access to instagram.com, youtube.com, tiktok.com and funkd.app only to detect the URL of the active video, inject the "Save to Funkd" button on supported pages and call our API. No browsing history, keystrokes, mouse activity or general page content is monitored or transmitted.

With vendors and service providers. Supabase (database and file storage, EU-hosted), Vercel (application hosting), and Meta/Instagram (OAuth and messaging API). These providers are only permitted to use your information in connection with the services they provide to us.

To comply with the law, and for safety and security. We may share your information if required by law or court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and our service.

In connection with a business transfer. If Funkd is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Under European data protection law, we process your personal information on the following legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests, and legal obligations.

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections and access controls.

Your data is stored in Supabase (EU-hosted). The application runs on Vercel. As a company registered in Estonia (EU), we process data in compliance with GDPR.

Funkd is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via a notice in the app. Your continued use of the service after changes are published means you accept the updated policy.
